8th annual Trout Grill & Pig Roast
Saturday June 19th
Our campers are invited to our campground trout grill & pig roast.
Menu: Grilled stuffed trout, roasted pork sandwiches, coleslaw, baked potato bar,
beer, soda and a great spread of sweet treats.
Plates and silverware are provided; no need to bring anything.
But if you would like to, please bring a dessert.
You must be camping with us during this time to enjoy our feast.
Our trout grill and pig roast grows bigger and better every year.
Please make your reservations early for this event.
The campground gets full early and we always have to turn campers away.

June 5th and 6th—Spring Arts and Crafts Show.
Held at Torpy Park in downtown Minocqua this 2 day Arts & Crafts show features over 75 vendors, food & live music. The show runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
July 4, 2008- Annual Independence Day Celebration.
Celebrate your independence the old fashioned way! Come to downtown Minocqua to enjoy live music, the 4th of July Parade, Fireworks over Lake Minocqua, & fun!
July 10 – Wife Carrying, Wife Ferrying, Pike Carrying Competition.
Held at Torpy Park in downtown Minocqua. Sponsored by Minocqua Winter Park and the Lakeland Area Kiwanis Club. For more info call (715) 356-3309.
July 23-25- 19th Annual Antique & Classic Wooden Boat Show.
Kick off the weekend by taking in the wooden boat parade at 6:45 p.m. just prior to the Min-Aqua Bats water ski show at the Aqua-Bowl off of Park St. in downtown Minocqua. Check out the wooden and antique boats & woody cars on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in downtown Minocqua.
July 31 – Mike Ross Memorial 5K Run sponsored by the Minocqua Lions Club.
Registration from 7 am to 8 am at the American Legion Hall in downtown Minocqua. The Race will begin at 8 am with the awards ceremony immediately following the race. For more info 356-3861.
July 31 – Lion’s Brewfest.
Join the Lac du Flambeau Lions Club for their annual Brewfest fundraiser from 1-5pm at Torpy Park in Minocqua. Sample more than 70 microbrews while enjoying live music. Purchase merchandise, raffle tickets and the famous Lions Club brats, hamburgers and hot dogs. Tickets include your own commemorative pilsner sampling glass. Proceeds benefit the Wisconsin Lions Eye Bank, Lions Camp and local charities.
Aug 5 – After Loon Delight Craft Show.
Held at Torpy Park in downtown Minocqua this 1 day Arts & Crafts show features over 75 vendors, food & live music. The show runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

MILK JUG REGATTA
MILK JUG REGATTA BOAT BUILDING RULES:
The milk jug boat race is run in conjunction with the Fireman’s Picnic and is a fund raiser for the Arbor Vitae Fire Department.
Boat is to be constructed of half or one gallon milk jugs. The main body of the boat and the primary floatation must be provided by milk jugs. It is recommended that there be at least 20 gallon milk jugs per person on the boat.
There will be three categories of racers: solo, tandem and showboat. There is no limit to the number of people on the boat within the showboat category.
- Solo boats-twenty feet of either 2”x4” lumber or pvc piping and one 4’x8’ sheet of ½ inch plywood. These are maximum numbers, although these materials are not required.
- Tandem boats-forty feet of either 2”x4” lumber or pvc piping and two 4’x8’ sheets of ½ inch plywood. These are maximum numbers, although these are not required.
- Showboat - there are no limits to the quantity of these or any other materials. Showboat rules are meant to be very unrestrictive. Judges will look for the most original and creative designs. Other areas of judging will be floatability, use of color, theme, outrageousness, and compliance with the rules. Of course, the main body of the boat and the primary floatation device must be constructed of milk jugs.
Unlimited use of rope, twine, string, glue, nails, staples, screws, wire, electrical and/or duct tape and the like is allowed in all categories.
One paddle or oar per person is allowed. Paddles can be double-bladed.
Boats are to be powered by paddle or oar only.
U.S. Coast Guard approved life jackets must be worn by all participants.
Participants under the age of eighteen must have a signed waiver from a parent or legal guardian to participate.
Styrofoam or other materials that may litter or pollute the lake are not allowed. Any boats constructed using materials deemed harmful to the lake will be disqualified from the lake.
Final decisions on the use of all materials is at the discretion of the judges.
NOTE: Boats are expected to participate in the “Parade of Boats” which will start beginning at 2:00 at Fireman’s Park and end up at the Arbor Vitae Campground which will be the starting point of the Milk Jug Regatta. Boats should be transported by human power along this route either on a trailer or other wheeled conveyance for the parade. Truck and car use in the parade is discouraged.

Arbor Vitae Campground campers are encouraged to build boats. Boats may be made at the campground. We always have extra milk jugs available. Just bring your ideas and supplies and get that boat made. Any camper that builds a boat and enters the race
will receive a prize from the campground.
Aug 7-8 – -34th Annual Arbor Vitae Firemen’s Picnic.
Join the Arbor Vitae Fire Department Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. followed by an evening dance at 5:30 p.m. and a car and fire truck show on Sunday. Live music, food, & drinks will top off the weekend fun!
Aug 7-8 – The Mary T. Hartzheim Foundations Memorial Golf Tournament & “Mary Mile” sponsored by MTH Foundation.
This is a fundraising event with proceeds going to the American Cancer Society. Golf tournament is a 4 person scramble format with lunch and prizes. The 1 mile run is from Hartzheim’s house (south of bridge) to Torpy Park (downtown Minocqua). For more irdnfo. Please call Ann Hunt (715)614-6628.

Join the craziness on Tuesday in downtown Minocqua from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for great deals, craft vendors, live music, & great food!
Sept 4 - 6th Annual Pride & Joy Fun Car Show.
Held at the intersection of Hwy 51 and Cty Road J in front of TJ’s Butcher Block in Woodruff. This fun car show runs from 10 am to 2 pm with awards immediately following the show.
Sept 4 - Annual Lakes Association Pig Roast
Join the Minocqua Kawaguesaga Lakes Protection Association for their Annual Pig Roast in Torpy Park, downtown Minocqua from 11 am to 2:30 pm. Enjoy great eats, live music & silent auction.
Sept 18- Fall Colors Arts & Crafts Show.
Celebrate fall with us in downtown Minocqua this show runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and includes arts & crafts vendors, food and music.
Sept 18- 4th Annual Wisconsin Wife Carrying, Wife Ferrying & Pike Carrying Championships.
This one-of-a-kind event takes place at Torpy Park in downtown Minocqua. Register from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Park. Competition begins at 11 a.m. with the challenge of an obstacle course to make carrying your wife a little more difficult! Win her weight in unique prizes!! This event is sponsored by Minocqua Winter Park and the Lakeland Area Kiwanis Club.
Sept 18 - Wheels in the Woods Bicycle Tour.
A supported bicycle tour (not race) in Vilas and Oneida Counties offering routes from 15 to 100 miles on fabulously scenic paved roads. Refreshment and rest stops, route maps, SAG service and a meal are provided. For more information see our website: www.wheels-in-the-woods.org.
Sept 24 & 25- 45th Annual Beef-A-Rama.
Join the Minocqua Island Business Association at Torpy Park in downtown Minocqua to kick the fun-filled weekend off with a dance from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Then meet us back downtown bright & early on Saturday for the 9 a.m. Rump Roast Run sponsored by the Lakeland Area Rotary Clubs. The downtown Beef Cook-offs begin bright and early in the morning along with live music & other tasty treats. Early sandwich sales start at 1pm. Other all day activities include a Craft Show at Torpy Park from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., kids activities, and of course the famous Parade of Beef at 2:45 p.m down main street! Cap the day off by purchasing one of these succulent beef sandwiches at 3 p.m. at Torpy Park.
Oct 9 - Hall-O-Wine.
Sponsored by the Lakeland Sharing Foundation this event will be held at the Minocqua Country Club of Minocqua and will include unique wine, cheese, and appetizer combinations. The evening will be topped off with live music and a Casino Night, so bring your friends for the fun!
